Review
Summary: Finally a comedy to light up the holiday season. Old Dogs which has some of the most established actors in the film industry bin it such as John Travolta and Robin Williams is surely a movie that one should watch and enjoy. The movie is directed by Walt Becker which also brought the movie Wild Hogs a couple of years back.
Review:Old Dogs is a typical comedy where it revolves around two men; Charlie (john Travolta) and Dan (Robin Williams). Although there’s nothing much different when directly compared with other comedy movies out there, the movie certainly brings a new theme for the holiday season which was portrayed in disaster with movies such as 2012 and also mind boggling graphics through the movie Avatar.
Charlie and Dan are both friends who work at the same company where Charlie can be considered as a happy go lucky person whereas Dan would be the straight and is usually the victim in most situations throughout the movie. The movie started with Charlie bringing Dan along a trip to get his mind of his wife who had just dumped him. While trying to get his depression away, Dan meets an attractive woman named Vicki who he ends up marrying the same day.
However, the marriage did not last and eventually Dan had to let go of Vicki. The real twist in the tale started once Vicki meets Dan with two kids that he fathered seven years later. The two added children into the plot of the story spiced up the comedy in the movie where various events that were comical happened because of the children.
At the end of the day, Old Dogs ended with a happy ending as Dan and Vicki were back together again after around of drama and turmoil between them. Besides that, Charlie too found someone for himself thus ending the movie with a holiday on a boat with both families on it.
Old Dogs isn’t something new to the film industry where it just incorporates a simple plot filled with drama and comedy. For those who would love to have a laugh during this holiday season, it certainly is a movie that could fit that purpose.
