Synopsis :

Priam Farll is a famous painter who's lived in seclusion on an island in the Pacific for twenty years. When King Edward VII asks him to return to Eng;land to be knighted he assumes the identity of his recently deceased valet Henry Leek in order to maintain his privacy. All goes well until his valet's penpal girlfriend Alice Chalice shows up with a letter with his marraige proposal. He marries her to maintain his ruse, but complications arise when his valet's real wife shows up with three sons and many questions. To earn a living, he begins painting again, but when his private artwork is sold under his supposedly "dead" name, the lawsuits begin. This hilarious comedy stars Monty Wooley, Gracie Fields, Laird Cregar, Una O'Connor, Alan Mowbray, Melville Cooper, and Franklin Pangborn. Written and Produced by Nunnally Johnson.
