After having met a series of potential directors of which Gus Van Sant (Milk), Sofia Coppola (Marie Antoinette) and Mark Toilets (Mean Girls) to direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Summit Entertainment would have finally chosen the director Bill Condon (who recently directed Dreamgirls and Gods and Monsters).

The studio wishes to separate this last shutter, inspired by the fourth book of the Twilight saga, in two feature films. In spite of her great interest for the franchise, Sofia Coppola was isolated when she revealed that she wanted to carry out only one of the last two films. Condon, Toilets and Van Sant then had meetings with Summit and the very well known author Stephenie Meyer.

Condon would currently be in negotiations with the studio to produce the last two shutters affirms the magazine Entertainment Weekly which claims to have had the confirmation of sources close to the project. If an agreement is concluded, Condon will pass a part of the next year to direct two films in Vancouver.

Always according to Entertainment Weekly, the first part of these two films would concentrate on the marriage, the honeymoon, the pregnancy and the birth of Bella and Edward’s girl. The second part would relate to the transformation of Bella into a vampire and the relation between Jacob and Renesmee Cullen, the daughter of Bella and Edward.

Condon was to carry out the independent project Salmon Fishing in the Yemen soon. This project was put outstanding for the moment. He would continue the filming of the film scripted by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) after his work on the Twilight franchise.
