Slash Films editors still let us know that Jay-Z and Will Smith have made progress on this musical, proposing Emma Thompson (52 years) to take over the tasks of writer, the more as you see in the movies “Love Actually”, “Last Chance Harvey”, “Brideshead Revisited” and “Stranger Than Fiction” he has previously made scripts signature from “Nanny McPhee”, “Nanny McPhee Returns” and “Sense and Sensibility” and has sufficient experience. It is possible that Will Smith and Emma Thompson have discussed the details of this commitment on the set of the sequel’s “Man in Black III”, but the double Oscar winner has not yet provided an answer.
The musical “Annie”, which inspired the 1982 film, played on Broadway since 1977 and was based on Harold Gray’s comic books since 1924.

“Snowtown” movie about the most evil serial killer in Australia
20 May, 2011
Australians have bring to Cannes this year one of the worst stories that their history have – “Snowtown” – the story of serial killer named John Bunting, a charming and charismatic man that killed 11 people. The killings occurred in the town of Snowtown in South Australia from 1992 to 1999.
The film is told from the perspective of Jamie Vlassakis, a boy of 16, who lives with his mother in a suburb of the city, where the violence dominates, unemployment and sexual abuse. Jamie befriends with John Buntig that fascinate the kid, because it’s exactly how he wanted to be the father that Jamie has not met before.
Jamie’s mother, Elizabeth Harvey, is also drawn by Bunting and marries him, so he becomes the father of Jamie. Completely fascinated, Jamie will find after a long time that his mentor is a serial killer, the most dangerous that ever lived in Australia.
The “Snowtown” movie of the debutante director Justin Kurzel focus more on Jamie the teenager – played by Lucas Pittaway, and the way that Bunting manages to make him an accomplice to murder. Australian murderer now serving 11 life sentences in prison was a keen observer of people and knows how to handle them great. Among his victims he believed there are only pedophiles or homosexuals.
The film has a dark picture with attenuated colors that give the top restlessness, Dan Goodswen writes for Total Film Cannes. Most are amateur actors, including Lucas Pittaway, who was recruited for the cast from the Australian city shopping mall where they filmed “Snowtown”. Pittaway plays great, but thrills are given by Daniel Henshall who manages to portray the twisted and evil serial killer with a charm and an awful look at the same time.
Goodsween wrote that the audience was in full in the projection room at Cannes. But some of them have left because of grotesque scenes with extreme violence, the film is not for the faint of heart. But those remaining at the Cannes screening, broke out into applause at the end. The film is “an intelligent dissection, stratified, human psychology and a map of the fall of an emotionally disturbed young man, influenced by the father figure that he wanted desperately” notes Total Film.

Mel Gibson is not saved with “The Beaver”
18 May, 2011
The third feature film directed by Jodie Foster, “The Beaver”, was presented out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, and saw about 2000 people (not all places have been filled). Each of the 2,000 people went, more likely, with a dose of tolerance to this drama movie.
So face it, the first two films directed by Jodie Foster have gathered too many praised, and – if you look on the poster of “The Beaver”. Furthermore, The Beaver distributes a persona non grata leading role in Hollywood today, with domestic violence (against the girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, with whom he has a daughter, Lucia) and anti-semitic remarks: Mel Gibson. A few hours before submitting the red carpet, Gibson was photographed without a shirt and with the belt disposed on the balcony of the hotel Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes.
Three big names appear on the movie poster of “The Beaver” – Jodie Foster (as director and actress), Mel Gibson and Jennifer Lawrence, an Oscar nominee this year. Moreover, Gibson has a tough role, that of a man with bipolar personality, but fails to draw attention to the interpretation. At a press conference in Cannes were present only Jodie Foster and the screenwriter Kyle Killen. Mel Gibson preferred to hide from the journalists, but he walked the red carpet Tuesday night. Asked if the movie might save the wrinkled image of Mel Gibson, Foster said at Cannes that “the completion of the film makes you look deeper into yourself, in the people around you and the consequences of what you did, that has an objective cathartic, therapeutic end”. Foster wishes to stress that Gibson “was ready to show in the movie that he is going through this struggle, presents something that he had to do himself in real life”.
