The actor John Hurt (seen in Outlander, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, V for Vendetta and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) will play in Melancholia, the new film of the Danish director Lars von Trier (who directed Antichrist, Dancer in the Dark and Breaking the Waves).

He joined a distribution already made up of Kirsten Dunst (seen in Land of the Lost, Spider-Man 2 & 3 and Elizabethtown), Charlotte Rampling (seen in Babylon A.D.), Kiefer Sutherland, Udo Kier, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alexander Skarsgard and Stellan.

The filming must start on July 19th in the municipality of Trollhättan, in Sweden.

Melancholia will be the first incursion of Lars von Trier into the universe of the science fiction. Peter A. Jensen, president de Zentropa, the production company of Von Trier, described the project like a splendid film on the end of the world. The details of the scenario remain secret for the moment but Jensen however slipped that the story line would relate to a broad object coming from the space which approaches the Earth and which assigns the inhabitants of planet.

Zentropa Denmark will produce the project in partnership with the French company Slot Machine, Zentropa International in Cologne and the Swedish companies Memfis Film and Trollhattan Film.

The actors John Hurt and Isabel Lucas have just joined the distribution for the movie Immortals, a project which was known before under the title of Dawn of War. Relativity Media confirmed the change of title and announced the beginning of the filming this week in Montreal.

In Immortals, the young warrior Theseus will carry out his men, with the assistance of the Greek gods of the Olympia, in a battle which will oppose them to the Titans, much older divinities, in order to save humanity.

Hurt will incarnate the land incarnation of Zeus. He will act like mentor and professor at Theseus (Henry Cavill). Lucas will play the part of Athena, the daughter of Zeus.

The distribution is also made up of Stephen Dorff (XIII: The Conspiracy), Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga), Luke Evans, Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Mickey Rourke and Joseph Morgan.

Tarsem Singh (The Cell) will direct the feature film. Jason Keller wrote the most recent version of the scenario. A previous model had been written by Christian Gudegast according to a scenario of Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.

The American studio Universal Pictures will distribute the film on North-American screens on November 11th, 2011.
