In February 2011 we find that the director Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum”, “Cheaper by the Dozen”, “Date Night”) was installed by officials from 20th Century Fox at the helm of the SF remake “Fantastic Voyage” after James Cameron and Paul Greengrass have abandoned successively the director chair, but the first has remained involved in the project as a producer.

In May they held talks with Hugh Jackman, who was proposed to take one of the main roles, but until now has not initialed any concrete agreement, even though Shawn Levy hopes to collaborate again with the mutant Wolverine, when teamed with him in 2011 in the SF action “Real Steel”.

The next name on the wish list of Shawn Levy is Will Smith, which plans to meet in coming weeks to discuss the contract terms, but if the star of the franchise “Men in Black” will not sign the contract, the Canadian director is determined to definitely give up this remake, which lingers too long during “pregnancy” and does not move at all in the right direction.

Lewy Shawn’s desire to have commanded a top actor from Hollywood to ensure the success of the film audience is not accepted by producers from 20th Century Fox, who would opt for a less experienced player and without excessive financial claims, because the original “Fantastic Voyage” from 1966 is a classic science fiction genre and does not need a protagonist to have first-hand grip to moviegoers.

The films that inspire the 3D remake was directed by Richard Fleischer and starred Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch, Edmond O’Brien, Donald Pleasence and James Brolin, watching a group of scientists who are reduced to microscopic dimensions, boarded to a miniature submarine and placed inside the body of a diplomat who was the victim of an assassination attempt in order to save his life.
