The actors Benicio Del Toro and Cameron Diaz are attached to a sentimental comedy which will be produced for 20th Century Fox. The studio has just acquired the rights of a film adaptation from the novel An Ex To Grind by the author Jane Heller.

Del Toro will incarnate a very popular athlete who supported the dreams of his wife who works as a waitress during years. When his career is curtailed by a wound, the athlete will transform himself into a bum and beer drinker whereas his wife becomes a prosperous businesswoman. She will plan to divorce but will be horrified to learn that she will have to pay alimony to support the neglected lifestyle which led her to separate from him. She will conspire to find a new woman for her husband in order to draw from businesses but when her replacement will transform her husband into the man with whom she formerly fell in love, she tries to recover him.

The novel of Jane Heller was published into 2005 by the William Morrow edition, a subsidiary company of Harper Collins.

The project will be produced by Laura Bickford in partnership with Julie Yorn. Del Toro and Bickford already worked together on the crime drama Traffic and on the two-part 2008 biopic Che.

The second trailer for the action comedy Knight and Day, a film starring the very popular actors Tom Cruise (who will also be in Mission: Impossible IV in 2011) and Cameron Diaz (whose voice will be heard in Shrek Forever After soon), is available from now on the Internet.

Knight and Day, a realization of James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line, Kate & Leopold), tells the story of a woman (played by Cameron Diaz) whose destiny will cross that of a beautiful mysterious man (Tom Cruise) who she will meet at the time of a blind date. Her whole life will be upside down when she realizes that the man is a super secret spy and that he will involve her in a violent tour throughout the world in order to put the hand on a powerful battery which is the key of an infinite energy source.

The distribution is also made up of Peter Sarsgaard, Olivier Martinez, Viola Davis (Eat Pray Love), Paul Dano, Mark Blucas and Maggie Grace (Taken and the TV series Lost).

Knight and Day is supposed to be released on North-American big screens on June 25th.
